Day 5;
Today I started this poster for Calamityville’s imaginary seed company. This will be one of our prints for our crowdfunding adventure.
http://vegetablelovestory.tumblr.com Calamityville- Misery and I started making stuff together a couple of years ago and made this name for ourselves. Weve been trying to make an art show that is something bigger and crazier than either of us had done before. A lot of the art we had been doing was all this garden stuff, strange creatures in the vegetable garden. We wanted to make a show with lots of 3D sculpture, inflatables, and use light and sound to immerse people in the worlds our paintings were portraying. Because we had done to large set designs for the Apra Silver Scroll music awards, we were inspired by the way music and art could go together to create atmosphere, so we decided to make a stage for musicians within our 3D garden world.
We found the Auckland Silo’s and pitched to do a show there, and at the same time Misery began to meet with Xanthe White, a really talented and hard working landscape designer, who was busy winning awards all over the place. They were excited to collaborate, so we invited her to actually build a garden and the foot and up the side of the silo’s.
To get this crazy thing off the ground we have decided to raise money for development of the show. WE need to stop working our other jobs for a couple of weeks, sit down, and work out how this show will work, design the characters inside it, design the garden outside with Xanthe. A small amount of funding will allow us to spend some time making the show real enough to find sponsorship. So we will do one of those “crowd funding” websites. We have found a really good one called Pozible. Now we are going to make a large body of art to give to people in return for donating to our cause. Thats were the blog starts.
